  1. The Wikipedia entry on African Water Buffaloes referenced this video and said the calf survived not only lions but a crocodile also. It went on to say that water buffalo have been known to keep lions treed for hours and to ambush and attack human pursuers. They are quite formidable and mean-tempered animals.

    (Lions have some unattractive behaviors as well, especially the practice of a new dominant male killing off all the cubs from the prior dominant male.)
